A143. Senior Complex

Porto, Portugal

2018

The Senior Complex has two distinct programs: the Senior University and the Senior Residences. The Senior University aims to be a space that offers opportunities to the senior population of Porto to acquire training in the most diverse areas of knowledge, thus promoting active aging. The Senior Residences intend to be a space offering accommodation for the senior population, making the intersection between the care services of a home and the amenities of a hotel, responding to all the needs of comfort and quality of life to its users. The approach to the terrain, due to its morphology and great difference in elevations, consists first of creating several platforms with different elevations that allow the positioning of different blocks and also in the design of a landscaped and wooded environment that embraces the various blocks, originating pleasant green outdoor spaces for this complex users. However, and for the proper functioning of the entire proposed program, the blocks are joined in the basement levels, seeking to give unity and cohesion to the complex.
